I was excited to get my hands on this fancy Lancome renergie dark spot correcting cream because I don’t have the chance to try luxury like this very often. This cream was provided to me by my work so this was not purchased with my own money, but all opinions are my own as per usual.
The consistency of the Lancome renergie cream is rich yet light at the same time. It has an SPF of 30 which is within the dermatologist recommended SPF range. This cream is a chemical sunscreen so there is no white cast. It hydrates my dry skin very well. Now, the bad stuff:
This cream pills off within an hour with very little touching. When I rest my head on my hand during boring Zoom class, apply makeup, or wear a mask, this cream pills off. It doesn’t matter what serums I prep with, it pills off rain or shine. This is very disappointing considering the high price tag.
The Lancome renergie dark spot correcting cream has a very light floral fragrance. I really like how light this fragrance is especially compared to some of the heavily scented Lancome night creams. I personally love the Lancome skincare fragrance because it reminds me of my mom because she has used Lancome since before I can remember! However, if you are sensitive to fragrance, I would not recommend this cream.
Linseed Extract and Lipo Hydroxy Acid (LHA)– to combat visible signs of aging due to collagen loss like fine lines, wrinkles, and loss of elasticity
Jojoba, Sunflower, and Mimosa Flower Waxes– to hydrate the skin
It doesn’t. This cream pills off my face with no makeup on my skin. When I apply makeup over it, I have to wipe away the pills. It pills off like a cheap cream under makeup and it’s very irritating! I really can’t stand it when my creams pill like this.
Alright, here’s the worst part of this cream. The Lancome renergie cream retails for $109 for $64 dollars per ounce (1.7 fl oz). Like me let that sink in… one hundred and 9 nine dollars for a cream that pills off my face no matter what. I usually spend about $30-$50 on my creams. I was excited to try a cream with this luxury price tag, but this was so disappointing.
A cream for this price should work flawlessly. I would expect this type of pilling from a cream under $20 certainly not from a $109 cream! While I don’t buy skincare this expensive, I have no problem with luxury skincare as a concept… if it works. I’d much prefer my two favorite creams (the Laneige water bank moisture cream ($38) and the Innisfree youth enriched orchid cream ($29)) which are less than half the price of this Lancome one.
The purple jar of the Lancome renergie cream is very beautiful and luxurious. Since the quality of the cream inside is unimpressive, I have to wonder if the $109 price tag is for the fancy jar… Despite that, the jar is as functional as it is beautiful.
The main goal of the Lancome renergie dark spot correcting cream is to hydrate the skin and lighten dark spots. I’m in my 20’s so I’m not exactly the target audience for this cream. Even though I don’t have dark spots from the sun, I was curious if it would help lighten my post acne marks.
I’ve seen a significant improvement in my acne and post acne marks since I started using the Krave Beauty Kale-lalu-yAHA exfoliator. I started using this Lancome cream a couple months after the Krave Beauty exfoliator. I really don’t think it made a big difference in fading my acne scars, but I don’t think it hurt either. The other odd thing is I couldn’t find a specific ingredient that Lancome is using to fade dark spots. I’m really not sure how this cream is supposed to work…
Overall, the Lancome renergie dark spot correcting cream is not worth the price tag! I wouldn’t normally give a product such a harsh review, but I believe that a cream worth $109 should work flawlessly under all circumstances. Honestly, a cream with that price tag should pay off student debt and clean your whole house lol. My skin felt hydrated while using this cream, but the pilling was just ridiculous.
The Heimish glow base sunscreen caught my eye on the brand’s bestsellers page. I…

Oh no this cream sounds so disappointing.
I guess you get even more disappointed when a luxury product like this one is not that good.
107 dollars for a cream it’s crazy if especially it is not amazing.

It really was very disappointing! I can’t believe it is so expensive when it is so low functioning. I can’t stand it when my cream pills off like this. Thanks for reading Margot <3

I was so disappointed! I’ve tried better creams for less than half the price of this lancome one.

It sounds nice but chemical sunscreen reacts so badly on my face. Whenever I apply it, it feels like my face is on fire.

It’s okay! You’re not missing out on this cream, it’s pretty terrible. I will make sure to include more mineral sunscreens in the future because I know you’ve mentioned your sensitivity to chemical sunscreens before 🙂

I so appreciate your honesty about this cream! It is beautifully packaged and I feel like so many of us get caught up in thinking that because a product costs a lot, it’s probably really good. Sadly, like in this case, it’s not always that way. 🙁

The package is so beautiful, but the cream inside was so disappointing! Expensive skincare does not always look better contrary to popular belief!

Wow, that’s so disappointing! I am always shocked when companies think they can release a product *that doesn’t work* and have the galls to charge people for it. And at $109? Yeah, I’d expect flawless function as well :\

I know right! The audacity! A cream with that price tag should not be this flawed. It made me so angry to see the product pilling off my face with each application like a cheap cream 🙁

Thank you so much for being honest and sharing your feelings towards this cream. It sounds so disappointing! A cream with this price tag SHOULDN’T be this flawed. What a shame!

I was so mad that this cream was so bad! I’m glad I’m not the only one that thinks a cream this expensive should work flawlessly. I’d rather use my creams that work better for less than half the price!

It’s a shame this product was so disappointing for you, especially as it was so expensive! 🙁
Hope that you are having a good week! 🙂

Definitely too expensive for doing so little and so shocking that it peels off.
Have a nice day Jill!
