Glow Recipe Banana Cream Review

Glow Recipe banana cream

Since I love the Glow Recipe watermelon sleeping mask, I wanted to try out the Glow Recipe banana cream and see what their other products are like. Glow Recipe is a luxury clean k-beauty brand that formulates their products using fruits.

Consistency

The Glow Recipe banana cream has a very light weight consistency that absorbs easily into the skin. This cream is formulated for all skin types, even acne prone and oily skin. As someone with dry skin, I was worried the cream wouldn’t be enough to hydrate my skin on it’s own. I was washing my face twice a day when I started using the cream, but switched to once a day and then I had no problems with dehydration.

About halfway through this jar, I incorporated Vitamin E oil into my skincare routine. I began to enjoy the light weight properties of this cream more when I started using the oil because it doesn’t feel like my skin is drenched in product even when I’m wearing the cream, oil, and sunscreen at the same time. If you have dry skin, Glow Recipe recommends using their watermelon pink juice moisturizer as a serum under the banana moisture cream. I never tried this because I was happy with the cream and oil pairing.

Scent

Honestly, the scent of this cream is the best part! This product has real bananas in it so the fragrance is completely natural. The smell reminds me of those little banana candies. It is not a very strong smell and it isn’t a smell that lingers after you’ve patted the cream into your skin. I would say that it is friendly to people who are sensitive to fragrance! The Vitamin E oil I started using smells like almond extract so when I mix the banana cream and the oil together it smells like the most amazing dessert 🙂

Highlighted Ingredients

Banana-bananas are rich in potassium and magnesium which help rehydrate the skin

Magnesium-calms and rebalances irritated skin

Turmeric-anti-inflammatory and rich in amino acids

Centella Asiatica– (AKA cica) heals dry, irritated, and sensitized skin

*This product is labeled clean beauty at Sephora which means it’s free of sulfates, parabens, etc.

How does it perform under makeup?

This cream works as a great base for makeup. I don’t love it’s makeup base properties as much as the Laneige water bank cream, but I had no problems with my makeup peeling or pilling off. I always like to start with a dewy hydrated base for natural looking makeup so the cream, oil, and sunscreen work well for that.

Price

The Glow Recipe banana cream is $38. As this was the same price as the Laneige water bank cream I was using beforehand, I was not too bothered by the price. For creams, I like to keep my budget between $20-40. I feel like you can get a great cream for that price without entering the super pricey bracket.

Packaging

Glow Recipe makes the freaking cutest jars ever! I now have the watermelon sleeping mask, the banana moisture cream, and the avocado retinol mask. The jars look so cute on my vanity! But enough about appearances. Glow Recipe’s jars are made from recycled glass and are 100% recyclable! The cardboard boxes the jars come in are also 100% recyclable as well. The fact that Glow Recipe is working to make less of a carbon footprint on the Earth makes me feel good about supporting them.

Results

While using the Glow Recipe banana moisture cream, I did notice that my skin was less red. Like I mentioned, I really liked how the cream worked while using oil and sunscreen with it. While I did like this cream, it really did not change my life. I liked the Laneige cream better. I wouldn’t be opposed to repurchasing, but I don’t think this is a holy grail product.

Have you tried any Glow Recipe products?

What a helpful review, Jill! I recently purchased both their Avocado mask and Banana cream, but haven’t tried them yet. I also have dry skin and I wonder how it will perform in a humid climate. I like how you add a bit of oil to make it that extra bit hydrating, plus it must smell divine! Thanks a lot for sharing your thoughts dear xx
