Urban Decay- Born to Run Eyeshadow Palette Review

I know it’s not “cool” to review a palette that is over a year old, but this palette is seriously so amazing and needs to be shared. With the fast paced world of social media, we move onto the newest palette release and leave the older ones in the dust regardless of the quality.

I now own FOUR Urban Decay palettes and I can’t say enough good things about the quality of their eyeshadows. I have Naked 2, Naked Smokey, Naked Cherry, and now the Born to Run palette. I have to say that this is truly my favorite Urban Decay palette I own.

This palette was designed to have everything in it so that you could travel with this palette alone and have a multitude of looks to create. This palette really lives up to the description! Since this palette is intended for travel, the mirror inside the palette is big. I know this big mirror will really come in handy when there’s limited space in front of the mirror in a hotel or for doing my makeup in the car.

Urban Decay- Born to Run Palette ($49)

The Born to Run palette has 21 highly pigmented eyeshadows. There are 7 matte shades and 14 shimmery shades. Born to Run has golds, browns, blues, oranges, pinks, purples, and greens. While you could use this palette at any time of the year, I would describe this palette as a fall/winter season palette because of the rich warm tones.

Since I’m not a matte eyeshadow girl, I absolutely love all the shimmer shades. However, I actually really enjoy the color, Riff, a sandy matte brown shade. It works excellently as a single shade over the lid or as a transition shade. My favorite shimmer shades are stranded (a champagne gold), wanderlust (an army green), and ignite (a rusty gold).

Another special shade to note is weekender (a neutral tan shade). This shade is used purely as a transition shade and it works well with every shade in the palette. Urban Decay really nailed it with finding the perfect transition shade.

Urban Decay’s eyeshadows hold up pretty well throughout the day, but I started using the Urban Decay Eyeshadow Primer Potion over the summer which significantly decreases creasing and color fading throughout the day. I’m going to do a Primer Potion test in a couple weeks so keep your eyes out for that post!

The only thing I don’t like about this palette is packaging. It features pictures from around the world to go with the Born to Run theme, but it just looks so cluttered to me. Other Urban Decay palettes have a relatively simplistic design so I wish they would’ve stuck with that style for this palette. Even though I don’t like the design, I don’t really care that much since I love the palette so much.

I highly recommend this palette because there are so many looks you can create using this palette and the shadows are so high quality! It can truly be used for day or office wear and amped up for night makeup looks. Well done Urban Decay!

Have you ever tried Urban Decay’s eyeshadows?

Nothing wrong with reviewing a palette that has been out. Sometimes, it might be better to review something that has been out for a while because it shows prolonged usage. I love the different ranges that the palette offers! Pretty cool that there are different textures too. My favorite is the glittery one! I don’t have eyeshadows but always love seeing people rock them! Glad you enjoyed them overall.
