Nature Lab Texture Collection Review

Nature Lab texture

The Nature Lab texture collection is designed for wavy and curly hair which tends to have a dry condition. Nature Lab gifted me their texture collection and I decided to do a full blog post review when these sparked quite a bit of interest with my followers on Instagram. Nature Lab is a Japanese brand with high quality formulas at affordable prices! Here’s my thoughts on the collection:

*These products were kindly gifted to me by Nature Lab Tokyo in exchange for a review on Instagram. All opinions are my own.

Curl Shampoo

The Nature Lab texture curl shampoo has a thin gel consistency that lightly foams within the hair. I love that this shampoo doesn’t strip or irritate my dry scalp. What impressed me most about this shampoo is it’s moisturizing properties that don’t weigh my hair down post wash. I use two pumps of product per wash. I find this shampoo removes all buildup and leaves my hair fresh.

Curl Conditioner

I couldn’t believe how silky the curl conditioner made my hair feel with such a lightweight texture. The conditioner is creamy, but not butter thick like many of the conditioners I have become accustomed to using for my dry hair. I use about 3-4 pumps of conditioner per wash for my long hair. I’m so hooked to the silky shine this conditioner gives my hair!

Leave In Conditioner

This is a basic leave-in conditioner spray that works well on damp hair to hydrate post wash. I like that this leave-in conditioner comes in a spray as opposed to a tube because I’ve tended to apply too much leave-in conditioner in the past. The spray bottle helps control my impulse to douse my hair. I wouldn’t recommend spraying in dry hair because it leaves a film if the strands aren’t damp.

Wave Cream

The wave cream was the only product in the Nature Lab texture collection that I wasn’t a fan of. I think it’s a bit strange that the brand came out with both a wave cream and a curl cream. I have wavy hair and I typically use curl creams. This wave cream has a very watery texture; I frequently found that this wave cream left a greasy film on my hair if I accidentally used too much.

Curl Cream

I much preferred the curl cream over the wave cream. The curl cream is kind of a mixture between a gel and a cream. I think the curl cream is appropriate for both wavy and curly hair because this product gives a bit more hold to the curls due to it’s gel-like consistency. I loved how my waves looked when I scrunched this into damp hair. My only complaint is that my hair got frizzy when I brushed out my waves at night because the gel cream was disrupted. I would recommend doing the pineapple clip to preserve the curl/wave pattern at night with this product.

Scent

As someone who typically dislikes floral fragrances, I was SO impressed with the floral fragrance in the Nature Lab texture collection. Usually florals give off a bit of an old lady vibe to me, but this floral fragrance smells fresh, clean, and youthful. I tried a different shampoo and conditioner from Nature Lab a few years ago and I remember the duo had the most wonderful citrus fragrance that smelled like real navel oranges. This brand really nails the fragrance!

Overall

I was really impressed with the Nature Lab texture collection minus the wave cream. The most impressive thing about this line is each product is between $13-$17 making it extremely affordable. I can say with confidence the shampoo and conditioner compare to my high end shampoo and conditioners. This is my first time trying Asian haircare and this makes me want to try more from the brand!

I have wavy hair too so I seem to prefer curl creams! I’d love to try the curl cream.

Hi Jill! I have been waiting for someone to review this line as I have been seeing it online, but didn’t know whether it was actually worth it or not. I am adding the shampoo & conditioner to my wishlist! xx
