Huda Mercury Retrograde Palette Review

I promised to share my thoughts on the Huda mercury retrograde palette in last week’s post of Sephora sale recommendations. This is my first time trying Huda Beauty and this palette actually ended up with me accidentally! Last Sephora sale, I received someone else’s package by mistake and Sephora let me keep it. Let’s get into today’s review to see if this mystery palette is worth the buck!

Shimmer Shades

This palette is very balanced with half of the shades as shimmers and the other half being mattes. When I opened this palette for the first time, I literally gasped at the shimmery shades! The Mercury Retrograde has 6 finely milled shimmers (cosmic, galaxy, supernova, mercury, frazzled, and ultraviolet) and 3 chunky glitters (nebula, gold glitch, and supermoon). The standout shimmers for me are gold glitch and supernova!

Matte Shades

This eyeshadow palette has 9 buttery matte shades (Utopia, Haze, Off Balance, Libra, Crash, Momentum, Vortex, Hot Mess, Karma) that are shockingly very pigmented. Pastel matte shades I’ve tried from other brands look beautiful in the pan, but don’t actually show up on the skin. The Huda mattes are different! I was so excited when I saw how pigmented these matte shades are and utterly wowed by the quality. The only color I find strange in the color story is utopia (a bright coral), there aren’t really any shades in the palette that pair well with this color, but the shade payoff is stunning regardless.

Performance

I always prep my eyeshadow with a primer by using the Urban Decay eyeshadow primer potion. I didn’t experience any issues with the Huda mercury retrograde palette creasing or fading throughout the day. When I apply the glittery shades with my finger, I experience some slight fallout, but fallout doesn’t bother me and I don’t think it reasonable to expect chunky glitters to have a flawless application. I just flick the fallout away and I’m good to go!

Price

The Huda mercury retrograde palette retails for $67 at Sephora. This is quite a pricey palette, but I think it’s well worth the price for these richly pigmented shades and eighteen colors.

Packaging

The Huda palette is made out of a tough plastic material with a magnetic closure. The packaging is very sturdy and I haven’t experienced any issues with the palette accidentally coming open. I would recommend being extremely careful with this palette because I just know the glittery shades are going to pop out the second I drop it!

Final Thoughts

Overall, I absolutely adore the Huda mercury retrograde palette. I was so impressed with the quality and pigmentation of these eyeshadow colors. The palette is so versatile for day and night and the color story is so romantic. I didn’t choose this palette, the palette chose me haha!

I’d highly recommend scoring the Huda mercury retrograde palette during the fall sephora sale! Have you ever tried Huda Beauty?

This eyeshadow palette is one of the most beautiful Huda palettes so far in my opinion. I’ve always wondered on which I should splurge, and I’ve gotten the Neon collection when I finally set my mind on a collection. I’ll take a closer look at the Retrograde palette though, it’s stunning!

Hello Jill, I hope you had a lovely weekend!

First of all thank you so much for your meaningful words, Jill ❤️ It means the world and it gives me motivation to keep creating content for IG and for the blog :)!

And you’re really good at getting perfect color palettes, I think you have to train the eye in order to get nice combinations and I’d say it is not an easy task since the options in the beauty market are ENDLESS! But as you well said this color palette could work for many purposes. I think it was a nice selection and you could experiment a lot with it.

I also loved the name of the product and the way you styled the photos to show the magic of the colors!

What a gorgeous palette! I have one Huda Beauty palette and I’m amazed at the quality, so this one seems no different and that doesn’t surprise me! I love the shades here, though they may not be as ‘practical’ to wear for day-to-day makeup looks!
Thanks for sharing your opinion about the palette!
