San Diego Trip

Last week, my boyfriend and I took a trip down to San Diego to lay on the beach and hang out with my sister and brother-in-law. I’m so thankful that we had the opportunity to take a summer vacation and spend time with my family. I’m so happy with how these sets came out! It was wayyy easier to find pretty places to shoot in San Diego than Reno lol šŸ˜€

Look #1- Pacific Beach

I don’t typically go swimming in the ocean, but I decided to do it this time. Sometimes I say no to things because they might result in more work later (washing all the salt and sand out of my hair), but I’m really glad I swam this time and had fun! On this beach, people do everything from tanning, swimming, surfing, and yoga. All the California things haha. There are also plenty of electric scooters to ride along the boardwalk (I used the bird app). My boyfriend and I came here almost everyday we were in San Diego.

I have wanted a vintage looking black swimsuit like this foreverrr. I got this one from Aerie. I love Aerie’s selection of swimsuits because they are on trend, affordable, and cater to all body types. They also don’t photoshop their models! I’ve never had a black swimsuit before (other than the ones I wore for swim team as a kid). I have to say, I love the super classy vibe a black swimsuit has and I will definitely be looking into other black swimsuits.

Bottom- Aerie High Waisted Cheeky Bikini Bottom ($15)

Look #2

We took this set in my sister’s driveway! Like I said, San Diego made so freaking easy to find beautiful places to shoot! I live in the desert so I don’t get to shoot with palm trees very often. This was a real treat.

I really like how this outfit turned out. It was probably the outfit I was most excited to capture. I originally bought this top to go with the pink shorts in outfit #3, but I ended up really loving how it looked with this Urban Outfitters skirt I’ve had for years. I feel like blue and white is such a clean, classic look! It’s basically channeling the clouds in the sky haha. My favorite thing about the blouse is the polka dot texture. I’ve really been enjoying polka dot patterns this year.

Shirt:

Nasty Gal Bardot Dobby Crop– ($20)

*I really love how this top looks. If you consider buying this top, just be aware that the elastic on the top of the sleeves arrives pretty tight. I’ve been trying to stretch it out so it’s more comfortable, I think the elastic will wear down easily (hopefully). Otherwise, the blouse is very comfortable.

Shirt (similar):

Revolve Maya Off Shoulder Crop Top– (on sale for $34)

*Skirt originally from Urban Outfitters

Skirt (similar):

Urban Outfitters Denim Cargo Mini Skirt– ($50)

Sunglasses:

Nasty Gal Women’s Pink Lens Cat Eye Sunglasses– ($5)

*Sunglasses arrived pretty tight so I think I might take them to an eyeglasses office to have them stretched out a little cause I really like them!

Look #3- Pacific Beach

We captured this set on our last night in San Diego after helping my sister and brother-in-law move all day. Even though I was excited about this outfit, I didn’t really feel like shooting cause I was so tired! I ended up really loving this set and who can turn down a nice beach sunset?

This outfit is surprisingly really comfortable. The fabric of the crop top is thick/supportive enough so I don’t have to wear a bra or any kind of sticky thing underneath. The shorts are just a little bit scratchy, but I think the fabric will soften over time. I really like the paper bag shorts trend and I’m glad I finally scored myself a pair. I like that the color of these shorts is blush toned without being an obnoxious shade of pink.

Top:

Abercrombie Women’s V-Neck Crop Top– (on sale for $20)

*This is the same top from the matching set I wore in my Exploring the Desert post!

Top (similar)

Forever 21 Ribbed Striped Crop Top– ($13)

Shorts:

Nasty Gal Don’t Push My Buttons Paperbag Shorts– ($15)

Shorts (similar):

Express Super High Waisted Exposed Fly Cinched Waist Twill Shorts– (on sale for $25)

Carlos the Shiba Inu (a random dog my boyfriend decided to take a picture of)

Look #4- Sunset Cliffs

I have family in San Diego so I have been around the city quite a bit, but I have never been to Sunset Cliffs before. It was seriously so stunning. Ocean terrain is always so diverse. If you are traveling in San Diego, I seriously recommend going here! There are lots of beautiful wild flowers along the cliffs, little tide pools, and birds having a good time.

I bought this Patagonia shirt a couple years ago. Oddly enough, I didn’t wear it that much when I bought it, but now I wear it frequently. It is so comfortable yet durable and the cotton fabric is perfect for summer. I know I buy fast fashion pieces (which is not that great for the Earth), but a lot of sustainable fashion is pretty expensive which is hard to shop for on a college budget šŸ™ Anyways, I really love Patagonia, they are such a great brand and they do a lot to help the Earth!

This post was the perfect length, Jillian! I always try to read blogs via my laptop rather than my phone because I firmly believe the whole “blog,” experience is 100X better on a desktop, so the large photos are great. I also love all of these outfits, especially the striped crop and blush shorts! San Diego looks so beautiful. XOXO!
