BEAUTY

Foreo LUNA Mini 2 ($140)- If you read my Foreo vs. Clarisonic post, you know how much I’ve been loving my new cleansing device. It doesn’t deliver super different results from the Clarisonic, but my skin has felt softer and the device itself is very clean because it’s made of silicone bristles so it can dry quickly. I use this at night with my water based cleanser after I use an oil cleanser. This is very nerdy of me, but I really look forward to washing my face at the end of the day.

Mally Eyeshadow Stick in  burnished bronze ($25)- I got this eyeshadow stick in my January Allure Beauty Box and it’s just so easy to use. The bronze color is really flattering without looking brassy or dull. I also like that it looks really professional and clean. The stick is basically a crayon that you can just scribble over your eyelid. After I scribble on my eyelid (if you miss coloring with crayons, this product is for you lol), I blend it in with my finger and then add a little extra in the crease and close to the lashes to add some dimension. This product is a great option if you aren’t confident in your makeup skills because it is so easy to use. I’ve been going to the gym on campus about twice a week so throwing this in my bag as opposed to an entire palette is so convenient.

Sunday Riley CEO Glow Face Oil ($40 for 15 mL) ($80 for 35 mL)- I also got this oil in my January Allure Beauty Box and it is literally so amazing. I was super excited to try a Sunday Riley product and I feel like I’m f*cking Cleopatra or something with my face oil that must’ve been derived from magic skincare Gods. This was my first time using a face oil and I really didn’t know what to expect. I use three drops after my serums and moisturizer at night and I have noticed a major difference in my skin! My skin has been so much softer in the past month that I have been using this and my skin also looks very glowy. When you apply the oil, it definitely feels like an oil, but doesn’t feel greasy and it seeps into the skin overnight. I kind of want to write an entire post on this product because I loved it so much. After I finish this product, I’m going to look into some more affordable skin oils like primrose or jojoba because using an oil has been so great for my dry skin.

Son and Park Beauty Water ($30)- I am on my third bottle of this guy and it’s just such a reliable gentle product. I squirt a little onto a cotton pad to cleanse my face in the morning before the rest of my skincare. I also use it to clean up any mascara that has transferred underneath my eyes later in the day if I need to and it also works great to remove lipstick if you don’t need to remove the rest of your makeup. The beauty water can also be used as a toner to make sure you got off all the remaining dirt on your face that you didn’t get while cleansing, but I mainly just use it for my morning cleansing. The water has a nice smell and has gentle exfoliating properties. Each bottle has lasted me about six months so I consider it well worth the $30.

ENTERTAINMENT

Narcos: Mexico– This show is set in 1970’s Mexico and follows the story of drug lord, Felix Gallardo, and DEA agent, Kiki Camarena. My boyfriend and I also watched Narcos (the one that takes place in Colombia and follows Pablo Escobar) and we loved this one as well. The thing that blew my mind the most of both of these shows is that the stories happened in real life (with some Hollywood dramatization of course). Narcos: Mexico shows incredible landscape views of Mexico that really demonstrate the beauty of the country. I also think it’s really incredible that both Narcos shows are 90% in Spanish. Latino stories need to be told and it’s really special that the producers of this show aren’t willing to compromise on the language.

Planet Earth II- My boyfriend and I were scrolling through Netflix (because we had no idea what to watch after Narcos haha) and we came upon Planet Earth. We ended up watching three episodes in one night. The episodes are categorized by the type of terrain (such as islands, mountains, etc.). We really enjoyed learning about Earth’s amazing (sometimes weird) creatures. Compared to some animals, humans are pretty lazy…but anyways, if you’re looking for something to watch, definitely check out Planet Earth II.

Youtube: Beauty Within Channel

I came across this Youtube channel randomly and it totally blew my mind. Rowena Tsai and Deborah Kim talk all things skincare and review products. The thing that’s different about their channel is they talk about the chemistry of many skin care ingredients and how they interact with your skin so you can find products that really work. They explain the chemistry aspects really well and I gotta say, I would’ve done better in my high school chemistry class if it had been related to skincare. They also do a great job recommending products for different skin types.

OTHER

Davidson’s Organic Lemon tea ($6)- I drink tea every night after dinner and to use tea terms, I would describe this tea as delightful. The lemon is not too tangy or harsh and the flavor is very smooth. It’s just a really great after dinner, caffeine free option.

Yogi Bedtime tea ($4)- This tea is another favorite of mine that I enjoy drinking after dinner. It has a nice licorice flavor. I don’t really think it has any effect on my sleep, but I do really like the taste and find it calming overall.

DISLIKED PRODUCTS

Lancôme DÉFINICILS ($27) – High Definition Mascara- I had a mini size of this mascara that I got from a sample pack from Sephora and I really hated it! I have really long lashes so I’m always looking for volumizing aspects in my mascaras. This one made my lashes stick together which made it look like I had very few eyelashes. It didn’t clump, but it definitely made my eyes look like spider lashes or something.

SWAPPED PRODUCTS

Milk Makeup Watermelon Brightening Serum ($36) for The Ordinary Vitamin C Suspension 23% + HA Spheres 2% ($5.80)-I decided to switch out my Milk Makeup Serum for The Ordinary Vitamin C because I was going through the Milk serum in about a month and I didn’t want to be spending $36 every month. There was nothing I didn’t like about the serum, but using something more affordable is always ideal if it works. I’ve been using The Ordinary Vitamin C for about 2 weeks and so far I like it. It has a little bit of a gritty texture so I’ve been mixing it with my The Ordinary Hyaluronic Acid serum (as recommended by my favorite beauty youtuber, Melissa Alatorre). I’ll check back in and say more about this product when I’ve been using it for a few more weeks.

Hope you guys had a good month!
