When it comes to taking care of my face, I am sooo committed to a good skincare routine. I mask, exfoliate, use serums and toner, basically everything. However, when it comes to taking care of the skin on my body, I rarely do anything more than use body wash and moisturize daily. I’ve been trying to take better care of the skin on the rest of my body so I started making this body scrub! Bonus, you probably already have the ingredients in your kitchen.
INGREDIENTS:
–Coffee grounds
I just take the ground coffee I used in the morning. Caffeine is said to be good for stimulating blood flow when used on the skin.
–Oil
Any oil will do, I prefer coconut oil or olive oil
–Sugar (optional)
You can use this in place of the coffee grounds if you want. I like using my old coffee grounds to get more use out of them, but it’s also fun to mix sugar in as well. Sugar is a natural humectant so that’s why you see sugar being used in a lot of lip scrubs.
–Scent (optional)
I love using a little vanilla extract in my scrubs. Mixed with the coffee grounds, it smells really freaking yummy. You could also use an essential oil of your choice. Whatever floats your boat.
MIX
I start by mixing the dry ingredients together before adding the oil, but tbh it doesn’t really matter. If you’re using coconut oil, you might need to melt it for a couple seconds in the microwave prior to adding it to the mix since it usually sits in solid form.
USE
I use my scrub right after I use body wash. I always turn the water off in the shower while I’m scrubbing because I’m not trying to waste water! Use the scrub in circular motions to exfoliate that dead skin away (hasta la pasta dead skin). When you finished scrubbing, just rinse off. I don’t use body wash post scrub because I want to leave the oil to hydrate my skin. After drying off, I like to “seal it in” using Alba Botantica’s Kukui Nut Body Cream.
**FYI: this scrub is way to gritty to use on your face
I think the recommended amount of times to exfoliate the skin on your face in 1-2 times per week, so I assume it’s a similar amounts for your body. To be honest, I only use this scrub 1-2 per month, but like I said in the intro, I’m trying to get better at taking care of the skin on my body.
Let me know if you guys try out this scrub! Do you exfoliate the skin on your body?

I once made a coffee scrub and it stained by tub/shower! Not fun cleaning that up. But I did love it. Normally I just make a sugar scrub with coconut oil.

I’ve used a coffee scrub before and it was pretty effective. I didn’t realize it was that easy to make though!
