5 Covid Safe Valentine’s Date Ideas

covid safe Valentine's date ideas

I thought it’d be fun to write covid safe Valentine’s date ideas because many of us have been in close quarters with our partners since the pandemic began with little variation in our routines. Ever since the pandemic began last March, I’ve felt more inclined to celebrate holidays to mix things up and express gratitude despite this being a difficult year for all of us. I know Valentine’s can be a little bit cheesy, but a little cheese can’t hurt in pandemic life. Any who, let’s get into some covid safe Valentine’s date ideas to have a little fun on this holiday!

Take a Drive

In the past year, Cullen and I have made an effort to explore areas around our state! We live a short distance from Lake Tahoe so we love driving around the lake in the winter when it’s too cold to go to the beach like we do in the summer. We also have had a great time exploring our local desert. Taking a drive is a great way to get some fresh air and time out of the house!

Get Takeout from Local Restaurants

As many local restaurants are struggling due to the pandemic, getting takeout is a great way to support local businesses. Cullen and I don’t feel comfortable eating in restaurants so we love getting takeout every now and then when we don’t feel like cooking. My favorite restaurants in Reno are: Beaujolais Bistro (my parents French restaurant lol!), Kwok’s Bistro (authentic Chinese cuisine), Haru (ramen), and Hinoki (sushi). Since it is a holiday, it’s always fun to have a fancy meal at home <3 We plan on getting sushi today!

Have a Spa Night

Since I am so passionate about skincare, it’s no surprise that Cullen is subjected to a skincare routine as well! When we started dating 3 ½ years ago, Cullen’s skincare routine was a DOVE SOAP BAR. Now he willingly uses cleanser, serum, and moisturizer. I’m working on getting him to wear sunscreen everyday; I could honestly devote a whole post to that lol!

Anyways, doing sheet masks with your partner is a fun way to relax and pamper yourselves. Go forth and force skincare on your partner! It’s for their own good haha!

Reflecting on 2020

Cook a New Dish

Cooking a new meal is a fun way to bond with your partner. Whether it’s just simple homemade pizza or an elaborate dish, cooking is a fun way to celebrate the holiday. I’d recommend beginning cooking preparations early in order to avoid the dreaded hangriness (a state I suffer from frequently close to dinnertime haha!). Homemade meals pair best with a nice bottle of wine and a charcuterie plate 😉

Take a Break from Phones

Whatever date activity you decide to do, being mindful about putting your phone away and giving your partner undivided attention is so important. Our phones are basically like rectangles of stress whether it’s work emails, social media work (for my bloggers out there), or doom scrolling on the internet. Since the pandemic started, I think it’s safe to say that all of us have been spending more time on our phones which is why it’s so important to unplug.

I didn’t really do anything this Valentine! I don’t have a Valentine so I spend the day with my parents watching our favorite tv show and a soccer match of our favorite soccer club. It was nice! Hope you enjoyed Valentine’s Day too <3

Thank you so much Radi! It is so important that we are mindful of being present with our loved ones instead of just staring at our phones the whole time. Celebrating with friends sounds so fun! I hope you wore one of those cute Valentine’s outfits you posted on your blog!

    So many great ideas !
Just like you we stayed at home for Valentine’s Day. We also don’t feel comfortable to go out in the restaurants.
A spa night is such a great idea as well. We had a bubble bath and it was still fun.
You’re so lucky your boyfriend is into skincare as well. I tried with my husband but he doesn’t want to.
He only agrees when I put cream and take care of his feet.
    xx

Thank you Margot! I love getting takeout to support local restaurants, but I don’t feel safe eating inside a restaurant. Aw a bubble bath sounds so fun and relaxing! Hahaha so many men don’t like skincare lol. I am lucky my boyfriend lets me force sheet masks on him haha!

I think me and the fiancé have tackled pretty much all of them but getting away from our phones! :S so bad, also the spa idea is great but he’s not a fan. He finds it pointless to just chill haha.
