As far as my beauty routines go, I don’t spend a lot of time on my hair. I was going to write a beauty favorites post, but then I realized most of my favorites were hair care and styling centered so I refocused my attention. These hair products truly blew me away with their quality. I will definitely be restocking these items because they have changed my hair for the better!
IGK First Class Charcoal Detox Dry Shampoo ($27)
Before my trip to San Diego in early August, I got a small sample of this dry shampoo from Sephora using my points. After my first use, I was OBSESSED! I never thought I would spend that much on a dry shampoo, but it is totally worth it! I don’t have to use very much product to deep clean my hair. I really love that this dry shampoo provides ample volume and doesn’t feel gritty (as long as you don’t use too much product).
Another amazing thing about this dry shampoo is the smell! It smells so fresh, clean, and a little bit masculine. If this was a perfume, I would buy it in a heart beat. This product contains white tea to sooth an itchy, greasy scalp and you can definitely smell the tea. This really is the best dry shampoo I have ever tried!
*IGK is vegan, cruelty free, gluten free, paraben and sulfate free, and formulated without mineral oils.
Briogeo Be Well Shampoo and Conditioner ($48)
Originally, I didn’t think this shampoo and conditioner was going to work out for me. After playing around with them more, I ended up really loving this duo! When I first started using this product, I had trouble with the shampoo because I didn’t feel like my scalp was clean after washing it. I was left with flakes in my hair and my hair just looked dirty. I wasn’t sure if I was going to make it through the bottle until I started using more of the shampoo with each wash and I had the complete opposite experience!
Now that I use enough shampoo, my scalp feels extra clean after each wash without feeling dry or greasy. Because it is a clean beauty product, I think I have to use more shampoo due to the absence of harmful chemicals (many haircare brands add chemicals that make it easy to lather). It’s difficult to smoothly lather the product around your scalp if you don’t use enough.
The conditioner is the real star of the show. This conditioner is so rich and creamy. My hair always feels so silky after each wash. Even though my hair wasn’t particularly damaged before I started using these products, I do feel like the health of my hair has improved. I would compare this conditioner to a hair mask. I store this product upside down because it is so thick.
If you have dry, unruly, or frizzy hair, you would probably really love this product. I have wavy hair and I do feel like this made my hair a little straighter (something I’m not totally thrilled about). I think I’m going to play around with some other shampoo and conditioner duos just out of curiosity, but I would definitely repurchase this product again. You would also like this product if you are looking for a clean beauty shampoo and conditioner.
*This shampoo-conditioner duo has the Clean Beauty stamp at Sephora which means it is free of sulfates, parabens, phthalates, etc.
TIGI Bedhead Wave Artist ($28)
I originally saw Amber Fillerup-Clark of Barefoot Blonde use this hair waver on Instagram and I was totally sold by the amazing price and results! This waver is extremely easy to use and it’s also way faster than curling your hair. I think it only takes me about 20 minutes tops to wave my hair.
I have naturally wavy hair so it might seem a little redundant to use a waver, but I use it so that my waves don’t become frizzy and weird between washes. I like to use my waver on air dried hair so it can look as natural as possible. Another benefit of this waver is that the style looks ever better as the days go on! I love adding some dry shampoo (y’all know its IGK) to amp up the volume. I really love big hair…
One hair product I tried and hated:
Sunbum Dry Shampoo
This is the worst dry shampoo I have ever tried. Not only does this dry shampoo not clean my greasy hair, it makes it dirtier! After spraying it through my hair, my stands felt so heavy and dull. I was optimistic about this product because I love Sunbum’s sunscreen, but this was really awful! It also had a weird smell that reminded me of Trident’s tropical fruit gum…if it had been sitting in the car for a year. Even when I don’t love a product, I’ll usually finish it anyways, but I had to throw away this dry shampoo because it was so bad!

I really want to try that Charcoal dry shampoo! I’ve been reluctant to try a dry shampoo but you’ve made this one sound so good. It’s a shame about the Sunbum one, I love their products too so it’s too bad the dry shampoo doesn’t level up! xx

Sounds like a great duo. I’ve found that I have to use more of the “clean” shampoos also.

There really are so many nasty chemicals in some many hair products, I love this clean option.
