The Heimish glow base sunscreen caught my eye on the brand’s bestsellers page. I am very picky about sunscreens in general. My biggest pet peeve with sunscreen is when the formula pills under makeup so I was very curious to see how the Heimish glow base sunscreen would perform under makeup. Let’s get into today’s review!

Consistency

The Heimish glow base sunscreen has a very lightweight formula that absorbs easily into the skin. This sunscreen is moisturizing without a greasy or heavy feel, but I wouldn’t categorize this as a gel. If you have oily skin, you might be able to skip your moisturizer or pair with a lightweight gel moisturizer. I love layered hydration for my dry skin especially since I live in the desert. I use this sunscreen over my favorite moisturizer, the Cosrx cica intense cream. The texture of this sunscreen is great for all seasons. 

Type of Sunscreen

This Heimish sunscreen uses a blend of mineral and chemical filters to protect the skin from the sun. This sunscreen has a SPF of 50+ PA+++ which fits with the dermatologist recommended SPF range of 30-50. To read more about sunscreen, check out my post “A Complete Guide to Sunscreen”. The glow base sunscreen blends easily into my light-medium toned skin with no white cast! 

Scent

The Heimish glow base sunscreen has a very light “sunscreen scent”. The formula does contain fragrance, but it’s not overpowering and fades quickly after application. If you are sensitive to fragrance, I don’t think you’d find this overpowering, but here’s a fragrance and scent free sunscreen to look into (Beauty of Joseon relief sunscreen). 

How does it perform under makeup?

The Heimish glow base sunscreen was created to be used specifically as a primer for makeup. I love a natural, glowy finish for my foundation and using this sunscreen gives me the exact finish I’m looking for! This formula has a soft shimmering effect that looks absolutely beautiful under makeup without looking glittery. 

I’ve worn this sunscreen without makeup on top and I love how it feels on my skin, but it’s actually a bit too shiny to wear on its own unless you’re really, really into that glowy look haha! I would actually recommend wearing this sunscreen with makeup. This sunscreen is a beautiful base for makeup and doesn’t pill.

Price

This Heimish sunscreen retails for ~$17 on Amazon (or $20 on the Heimish website) for 1.35 fl oz. I try to stay under $25 for my sunscreen budget so this one fits right in. Depending on how often you wear makeup, this sunscreen could potentially last you longer as well!

Packaging

The glow base sunscreen comes in an easy-to-squeeze tube with a thin applicator so you’ll never find the product “splooting” out on you. I didn’t have any problems with the tube, but I didn’t have the chance to travel with the tube. I like that the tube is very thin width wise so it would be sleek for storing in a travel toiletries bag. 

Final Thoughts

I absolutely adored the Heimish glow base sunscreen! It is such a beautiful priming sunscreen for makeup. I love the dewy, shimmer effect it has under makeup and that it doesn’t pill when paired with foundation or skin tint. I would only recommend wearing this sunscreen with makeup since it’s a bit glowy for no makeup days. Overall, this is a great priming sunscreen!
