Krave Beet Shield Sunscreen Review

Krave beet shield sunscreen

After seeing the Krave beet shield sunscreen sell out over the summer due to Tiktok, I knew I had to try this sunscreen out for myself! I was skeptical to see a product so hyped up. Sunscreen in general is one of my favorite skincare products so I’m very critical of making sure I’m using a lightweight, non-greasy formula without a white cast. Let’s see if the Krave Beauty beet shield sunscreen lives up to the hype!

Consistency

The Krave Beauty beet shield has a wonderfully lightweight and hydrating consistency. It leaves a fresh and dewy glow upon application. I actually really look forward to applying this sunscreen in the morning because it feels so nice on my skin. As someone with dry skin, I really appreciate that this sunscreen is moisturizing without feeling greasy. This sunscreen is perfect for any season or humidity levels.

Type of Sunscreen

Beet shield is a chemical sunscreen with an SPF of 50. Dermatologists recommend an SPF between 30-50 so this one fits right in! Chemical sunscreens like this one absorb UV rays so they don’t damage the skin. I personally prefer chemical sunscreens because they don’t leave a white cast on the skin so they are friendly to all skin tones, but they’re not great for sensitive skin. This Krave Beauty sunscreen leaves no white cast at all! I did not experience any skin sensitivity while using this sunscreen.

*Side note: I bought a couple of mineral sunscreens to review on the blog in the future for those with sensitive skin 🙂 Stay tuned!

Highlighted Ingredient

Beets- beets are loaded with Vitamin C which means they are brightening (helps with hyperpigmentation) and provide antioxidant protection from pollution.

Scent

The Krave sunscreen has a very light lemony scent that I’ve noticed with many Korean sunscreens. The smell is faint and does not last on the skin after application! I would say this would be safe for anyone who is sensitive to fragrance.

How does it perform under makeup?

I absolutely love using the beet shield sunscreen as makeup prep! Because it has such a hydrating and glowy finish, it makes my concealer and foundation look natural and skin like. I have very dry skin so if I don’t have a hydrated base for makeup, my skin looks really dull and cakey with foundation on. This sunscreen does not pill under makeup!

Packaging

The packaging of the Krave beet shield sunscreen is really cute! There’s a couple things that irritate me about the bottle. I don’t like that the dispenser of the tube has a fine hole. Since I use ½ teaspoon of sunscreen everyday, I am left squeezing the bottle for awhile instead of a quick squeeze. It’s really not that big of a deal, but I think the dispenser is a strange design. I’ve seen lots of people using the dispenser to squeeze the product directly onto their face, but I think that method is a bit unsanitary because the dispenser is coming into contact with the skin… The other thing I don’t like about this tube is that it is very difficult to get the last bit of product out. I would prefer the traditional soft squeeze tube for this sunscreen.

Price

The Krave beet shield retails for $20 for 1.69 ounces. I’ve used cheaper Asian sunscreens that I love like the Biore watery essence and A’pieu sun cream, but the beet shield is worth the $20!

Krave beet shield sunscreen

Overall, I have to say this makes my all time favorite sunscreens list along with the Biore watery essence sunscreen and the A’pieu sun cream. I loved the lightweight moisture it gave my skin every day. I honestly really look forward to applying this sunscreen because of the beautiful dewy glow it gives my skin. This sunscreen honestly feels like it gives my skin nourishment as well as protecting my skin from the sun. I will 100% repurchase this sunscreen in the future!

Have you tried Krave Beauty yet? I’ve been really impressed with their products like the Kale-lalu-yAHA exfoliator and matcha hemp cleanser (review coming soon!)

I always like discovering new sunscreens.
I’ve been using sunscreens religiously since my early twenties and I am sure that is a huge factor why I don’t have almost any wrinkles in my 30s. So many people don’t consider this a priority in their skincare (I have so many friends who only apply sunscreen when they go to the beach). As a beauty lover I find this absolutely crazy!
thank you for this well-written post.

People really do underestimate how powerful sunscreen is for anti-aging! It doesn’t matter how many serums or masks you’re using if you aren’t protecting your skin from the sun. I love sunscreen so much and it’s so important to wear it everyday. It’s honestly such a game changer at any age. Thank you so much for reading my blog post Ana! <3

I already said this on IG, I m so curious to try this sunscreen, seems so good! I was searching one for this summer, because last summer I had a terrible sunburnt, due to the sunscreen, that wasn’t appropriate for my skin. But also to use in winter time! 🙂

I usually never stray when it comes to sunscreen. The Elta one has always been a go to. But this product is super intruiging and a great price point.

Sunscreen is so important! I have heard good things about the Elta sunscreen. I usually stick to K-beauty sunscreens, but every now and then I try a Western sunscreen. I’ll add this one to my list!
