I started using the Fresh soy cleanser after I was getting over the purging season I experienced while using the Murad anti-aging cleanser. After a week of using the Fresh cleanser, I was absolutely hooked because I had glowing skin that was significantly less red and irritated.

The Fresh soy cleanser is so gentle on the skin even though it has the ability to remove makeup. I double cleanse (more on that next week) so the majority of my makeup is taken off by the oil cleanser I use, but the Fresh soy cleanser removes any remaining makeup very gently.

I wear contacts daily which means my eyes are more irritated. Typically, they are really sensitive to cleansers when I’m removing mascara. I use the Fresh soy cleanser on my eyes to remove any excess mascara and I experience no stinging whatsoever.

While this cleanser did not completely rid my face of acne, I did notice a significant improvement. I think the Murad Anti-Aging cleanser I was using beforehand was just too harsh for my skin (even though I was purging) and this gentle cleanser really helped return my skin back to its normal state.

The Fresh Soy cleanser is formulated with amino acid soy proteins (for skin elasticity), cucumber extracts (to soothe the skin), and rose water (to calm and balance). The cleanser comes in a gel formula that feels quite slimy to the touch. It’s formulated for all skin types so it worked really well for my dry skin. 

It took me a while to get used to the odd scent of this cleanser. I can definitely smell the cucumber and rose extract. I don’t see any fragrance added in the ingredients list so I think the cucumber rose scent is naturally occuring. The smell isn’t my favorite, but it’s pretty light and undetectable once rinsed off the skin.

This cleanser does not have any exfoliation properties so make sure you’re using a good exfoliator to accompany this face wash. I don’t mind that this cleanser isn’t exfoliating since my skin can be sensitive to over-exfoliation.

The only thing I don’t like about this cleanser is the cap of the tube. Until the bottle is halfway empty, it frequently tips over in the shower. This isn’t the worst thing ever, but it really can be quite annoying. I think the tube could be improved by making the cap the size of the rest of the tube so it is more balanced and proportional.

Other than tipping over, I do like the squeeze tube design so I can easily get every last drop of the product out. I also love the tube because I can easily throw it in my bag for traveling. I haven’t had any problems with it spilling or leaking in my bag.

As far as cleansers go, this one is on the pricier side. The Fresh Soy cleanser is $38 for 5.1 ounces (~$7.45 per oz) of product. Considering the immediate improvement in my skin, I would definitely consider this cleanser well worth the price. I only cleanse my face at night so a single bottle lasted me about 4 months.

Overall, this is the best cleanser I have ever tried. After a month of using it, I repurchased another tube because I loved it so much. The next cleanser I will be trying is the COSRX Low pH Good Morning Cleanser.
